Origin Energy – Bendeela Hydro Power Station

Successful Supply of Bespoke Ball Valves for Major Plant Upgrade
Bendeela is an 80MW hydro power Station. It is located on Kangaroo River/basin in New South Wales, Australia and is part of the Shoalhaven Scheme and is owned and operated by Origin Energy.
Valve Distributors recently supplied 22 bespoke F316 stainless steel ball valves to Origin Energy as part of a major plant upgrade at both their Bendeela Hydro Power Stations.
The supply included 16 manually operated and 6 pneumatic actuated valves, complete with NAMUR-mounted limit switches and solenoid valves.
All valves were manufactured by our trusted OEM partner, Dervos Co. Ltd (China), known for high-quality custom valve solutions and fast turnaround times.
The upgrade was initiated to replace under-rated valves in specific areas of the plant, increasing pressure class ratings from Class 150 to Class 300.
Key Challenges and Solutions:
- Custom Design: A total of 14 DN100 and 8 DN200 ball valves were designed with various face-to-face dimensions to match existing pipework.
- Flange Compatibility: Valves were drilled to suit a mix of DIN PN25, DIN PN40, and Class 300 standards, including wafer-style bodies with tapped bolt holes.
- Tight Delivery Schedule: Despite the custom nature of the order, all valves were delivered within the client’s required timeframe of 12 weeks or sooner.
This project highlights our capability to deliver tailored valve solutions under tight deadlines while ensuring compliance with complex technical and dimensional requirements.
